i need to be upfront: i did not pay $5,000 to watch fireworks last year. i know someone who did and i got invited along and i still haven't fully processed it. VUE Rooftop on the Fourth is the closest thing to a religious experience this city has to offer — you're standing on top of Hotel Washington, thirty feet from the Treasury, and the Washington Monument is just in front of you at eye level while the entire National Mall ignites. Moët flowing, live band, crowd of people who clearly put the date in their calendar six months ago. the food here is exactly what you'd expect from a room that costs what it costs. if i'm being real i'd tell most people to go to Crimson or Perch for the Fourth — but if money is genuinely not a concern, this is the only answer in the city. nothing else is close.
