okay so i need to manage expectations before i rave about this place because Moonraker on the Fourth is not a fireworks-over-the-Mall experience — it's more intimate than that. the Wharf does its own show over the water, and you're watching it from the 14th floor of the Pendry with fireworks reflected in the Washington Channel below you and boats anchored in the dark to watch alongside you. it's a different kind of beautiful. i went for the first time a couple summers ago with my partner who was skeptical about whether it'd be 'worth $200' and we both agreed by the end that the food alone would have justified it. the kitchen is genuinely serious. go for the atmosphere, stay for the meal. just know you're booking a Wharf evening, not a Mall one.
